Welcome from the Headteacher
On behalf of the, pupils, governors and staff of Park Lane School I’d like to welcome you to our school website. Park Lane is an exciting and happy place to be, where our children are given opportunities to learn, develop and enjoy life through lots of different activities and opportunities.
There has been a school on our school site since 1914, with the Open Air School. We are very lucky to be in the heart of Trecynon by Aberdare Park. The countryside around us provides our pupils with a fabulous environment which only nature can provide. Our staff and pupils make use of the local environment and community wherever possible to support learning.
Over the years the school has changed, both in its building and purpose, to the school we see today. We are a special school for children aged 3-19 years old, meeting the needs of pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties. We currently have 98 pupils in the school and ten classes. We are lucky to have a range of sensory resources and environments, including an immersive technology room and hydrotherapy pool.
We believe our pupils should be as independent as possible, and the range of learning activities and opportunities we provide them with are a way of facilitating their learning and development of skills. As part of this ethos our aim is to help our pupils become confident learners, promoting high self-esteem. The school has a strong community within the school, and through its links with other schools, the college and others we have a strong place in the wider community.
We hope you will enjoy looking at our website, and get a flavour of what we do. We welcome visits to the school by appointment, so if you would like to come and find out more about our school then please get in touch with us.
We hope to see you soon.
