Our Learning

Throughout their time in our school pupils are given many different opportunities for learning, developing skills and applying their knowledge to many different aspects of their life.  Their learning is carefully constructed to provide pupils with opportunities for developing their cognitive skills, meeting sensory needs, and enabling our pupils to become independent learners as far as possible.

In order to do this we provide our pupils with an exciting and experiential curriculum, through the International Primary Curriculum, our Sensory Curriculum, and independent living skills curriculum.

As pupils move through the school their curriculum develops, with Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 going to Coleg Y Cymoedd in Aberdare to attend food technology lessons.  Option choices are made in Key Stage 4 pupils choose from a variety of subjects to develop their skills further, in an engaging, practical and exciting way.

At Post-16 the focus changes for our pupils, with an ever increasing development of pupils independence skills, accessing Coleg Y Cymoedd in Ystrad Mynach one day per week, and following accredited courses.
